Hundreds of young Kialegnons coming from different barangays around the municipality assembled at the PESO office to aspire to be the beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) summer job program, offered by the Municipal Mayor’s Office, through the leadership of Mayor Engr. Arthur D. Davin through Public Employment Service Office (PESO) through the leadership of Mr. Leonile P. Escarpe. From the month of March of this year, hundreds of aspirants passed their applications, wishing to be a beneficiary of the program. Interviews were conducted to assess their qualifications as well as in determining if they are qualified for the program.
Among the aspirants, only 148 individuals were qualified and were oriented last April 4, 2016 about the aims of the program as well as in giving the formal assignment of offices of the beneficiaries. The whole group was separated to two (2) batches: Batches 1 and 2. The core batch started their duties on April 6, 2016. The target completion of their workdays is on April 27, 2016. They will be followed by the second batch on the date given by the PESO Office. The beneficiaries are expected to be a great aid in their assigned offices such as the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and even the Office of the Municipal Vice-Mayor.
Nova Geyrozaga, a 15 year-old SPES beneficiary from Barangay Poblacion, thinks that the SPES program aims to help the young Kialegnons in their financial constraints that they are facing right now. “Also, I think SPES program offered by the PESO office is a great help for us, to be able to train ourselves on what is that like to be working in a government office every day. It is like a training ground for all of us beneficiaries. I think it is more on experience other than the compensation.”, she added.
